Colin Bertram (C.B.) Dale, Wes'
maternal grandfather. The picture on the left was probably
taken around 1915 and the one on the right in around 1940. C.B.
was vice-president of engineering for Webcor, a company that
made wire recorders and phonographs and the like. He held
numerous patents including one for a record changer that would
take a mixture of 7", 10", and 12" disks and
adjust the playing speed to 45, 78 or 33-1/3 RPM according to
the size of the disk. Wes remembers Grandpa Dale bringing books
about wild life by Thornton Burgess and reading to him. |
